Another timeless classic, ZZ plants have been one of the most popular houseplants for generations. These plants have earned their popularity by having all of these traits that are highly sought after by plant enthusiasts:
Ease of care - ZZ plants are some of the easiest plants to care for. They are succulents that store water in their plump stems, which allow them to go quite long before needing water. They only need water when the soil is completely dry, which varies depending on how hot your location is. Indoors, ours can go 2-3 weeks before needing to be watered, and even in the hot outdoor sun we water only once every 7-10 days. This is a great choice for people who travel or who are too busy to spend a lot of time looking after their plants.
Tolerates most light conditions - tolerates low light conditions very well. We usually have several in our low light areas. They prefer bright indirect light indoors where they will grow more quickly, but as long as there is any reasonable amount of natural light in the room they tend to be fine. ZZ plants would be one of our top recommendations for lower light conditions.
Highly resilient - ZZs are very tough, durable plants that can take a lot of neglect and do not typically have issues with pests (although it's always good to check your houseplants regularly)
Aesthetics - the characteristic tall stems with thick, dark green leaves are unique and beautiful
Air purifying - the ZZ plant was one of the top plants for filtering the air and removing impurities and toxins, as found in the classic studies conducted by NASA on this subject
We also love growing ZZ plants outdoors on our patios, where they can grow huge and full. These are fantastic plants suited for almost any condition and are highly recommended.

ZZ plants store a lot of water in their stems and can almost always go an extra week without water without serious harm to the plant. They do not tolerate frequent overwatering, which is about the only way you can kill them
