The Red Dragon flower / Schneideriana is another very popular huernia with collectors due to it's rich, deep red/crimson flowers and sturdy growth pattern. It has thick, spiked stems that are erect and can reach up to 20cm tall. As the plant matures it will grow into a thick clump.
Best grown outdoors, where the changes in day/night and seasonal temperatures will help the plant to flower. These plants tolerate extreme heat but do not tolerate overwatering, which is why we recommend having them in a sheltered patio that receives bright indirect light or partial shade, and is sheltered from rain.
Huernias, Orbeas and Stapelias are very easy to grow plants that are fun to collect.
NOTE: Plants shipped typically will not be flowering. The flower in the picture is to show what you can expect when this plant flowers. Good long term care and proper conditions are usually required for this plant to flower.
